We want more kids on bikes!
We are all about encouraging a love of riding bikes, exploring nature and making friends
The Yosemite Composite Mountain Bike Club provides this opportunity to student-athletes in the Mariposa – Yosemite - Oakhurst area. We are part of the NorCal High School Cycling League, https://www.norcalmtb.org/, and National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA), https://www.nationalmtb.org/.
NICA “composite” teams are open to riders from any public, private or home school. Please fill out this form JOIN if you are interested
Who may participate?
Student-athletes and adults MUST BE REGISTERED IN THE NICA PIT ZONE to participate in any club event. You may sign a one-time waiver (links below) to do a “test ride” with us. Beyond a “one-time” test ride, student-athletes must be registered with NICA and any adults must be registered as NICA coaches.

What does the club do? We ride mountain bikes in the Sierra Nevada foothills and other destinations, focusing on building skills and having fun. This might be a short ride to a local swimming hole or a weekend of camping at the coast and riding trails above the beach. Our favorite thing is seeing kids stoked about bikes, so we take it easy, play games and have fun.
There is an option to participate in NICA bike races, but this is not required and not our main focus. But if you’re interested in trying a race, we’ll get you ready and support you 100%. NICA events are cross country races, there are no downhill or enduro events. The courses are challenging but beginner friendly.
When do we start? We host pre-season “fun rides” about once a month from mid-October to December — these are a great opportunity to see what we’re all about and don’t require joining the NICA league. Regular rides start in January. We ride one day a week after school (day to be determined) and typically every other weekend, varying our weekend destination in order to do some exploring.
What does it cost? The cost to join the NorCal league is $60 per student athlete, plus $55 for NICA insurance. Each race charges a $55 registration fee, you only pay for races you want to compete in. We will make a strong fundraising effort to help cover these costs for those that need assistance. There are no fees required by our team, all costs are for the local and national leagues.
Volunteers make it happen! NICA-licensed coaches lead team rides and mentor athletes. See the NICA site for info about coach licensing.
